Old Hathern Station is just a few minutes from many of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire’s biggest attractions. Below is just a taster of a few of the attractions which may interest you.  We have plenty of leaflets detailing places of interest, so do please just ask and we'll point you in the right direction.

Donington Race Track has had a huge impact on the history of motorsport in this country and is just 5 miles from Old Hathern Station, making our facilities perfectly positioned to offer race enthusiasts a warm welcome in stunning accommodation as they embark on a weekend of motor sport. 

Sutton Bonington Campus

 Just a short drive from Old Hathern Station, The Sutton Bonington Campus is now home to Nottingham University's School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.  Its close proximity to our B&B  makes us the perfect place to stay if you're visiting the University.

The Great Central Railway is the UK's only double track, main line heritage railway -  the only place in the world where full size steam engines can be seen passing each other – just as it was when steam ruled the rails.

Trains run every weekend of the year, bank holidays and selected week days through the summer. 

Loughborough University

Well known for its world-class sporting facilities, world-leading research and business development, Loughborough University is just over 5 miles away, making Old Hathern Station Bed & Breakfast the perfect place to stay if you are visiting the University or friends in Loughborough and surrounding areas.

We have a varied choice of restaurants, from Michelin Star Sat Bains and John's House, to acclaimed pubs and eateries not far, or a short drive from Old Hathern Station.

The King's Head just down the road  in Sutton Bonington offers a warm welcome and excellent pub food.

The Plough Inn at Normanton on Soar enjoys a pleasant waterfront location. 

The Royal Oak in Long Whatton caters for the discerning ale drinker and has a varied food menu.  In our surrounding  villages we have a good mixture of traditional and  modern pubs and restaurants for all price ranges and tastes.

We are lucky to have many beautiful stately homes and several historical places of interest  on our doorstep and a short journey away.

If you fancy walking, cycling or running, Charnwood Forest & Bradgate Park are the places to visit; for water sport enthusiasts, The National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont  is ideal.

There are several market towns in the area including Loughborough and Melton Mowbray as well as the larger cities of Leicester, Nottingham & Derby.

For all sports fans, we are lucky to have rugby, football and cricket in all our surrounding towns, motorsports at Donington Park, horse racing at Nottingham and Leicester and various events in the Nottingham ice rink.

There is a wide range of theatres and concert venues in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby offering excellent entertainment and a great night out!
